The next year (1966), it won Zelazny the first of his six Hugo awards, tying with Frank Herbert's Dune. For the novelization, Zelazny expanded the work by 8,000 words. 80781 -X Three-Bladed Doom Robert E. Howard Fantasy 1987 2nd ACE printing Sanjulian Three-Bladed Doom is an El Borak short story by Robert E. Howard and was not published within Howard's lifetime. El Borak, otherwise known as Francis Xavier Gordon, was a Texan gunfighter from El Paso who had travelled the world and settled in Afghanistan. The character was originally created when Howard was only ten years old but he did not see print until "The Daughter of Erlik Khan" in the December 1934 issue of Top-Notch. Although Howard best known for his fantasy fiction, the El Borak stories are straight adventure fiction and only Three-Bladed Doom contains a fantasy element.

The classic title story is told from the point of view of a Sylvan who befriended Remus, the brother of Romulus. Vashti is about a wife of Xerxes the Great, who was suspected of being a djinn.

This is another example of the re-use of old stock. The number block in the upper right has an offset edge suggesting that it was placed over the previous ACE F-series or G-series label. Because of this I would suggest that this would be the 3rd ACE printing edition.

Schmitz Sci-Fi 1970 c.1966, 1970; Leo and Diane Dillon This is one of the ACE Science Fiction Specials (1st Series).  Note that the date is not on the copyright page.  An AIL user (thank you Bill) indicates that the publisher on the title page includes “A Division of Charter Communications” which only came into being in September 1970. So this was printed either in September or October of that year.  Oh, the fun of tracking down ACE publication data.
